Conservation Club AU aims to raise awareness about our unique continent and some less well-known, significantly diverse environments as well as unique, native and endemic species that can be found in this Great Southern Land. Primarily aimed towards educating 8+ year old readers, the information and imagery also appeals to much older Australians given that both the images and fun facts are quite detailed. Unless you are a biologist, you could, potentially, be surprised by some of these facts!
Australia is the sixth largest country on Earth and the only country that covers a whole continent! Because of our isolation from other continents, many of Australia’s animal and plant species have evolved over millions of years and are found nowhere else. Australia itself, as a continent, has a wide variety of environments, for example: high alpine bogs, deserts, reef, Wallum, Noongar country, the Northern Territory, our islands (Kangaroo, King, Tasmania, Bruny, Torres Strait islands, etcetera – a long list!) many of which are threatened for various reasons, including climate change, extreme weather events, human impacts, etcetera.
